Long ago, young Benjamin Franklin pretended to rush here and there filling orders for his brand-new printing business. That was his plan for making himself look successful. He knew that people—including clients—gravitate toward successful people. His plan worked, of course, and it can work for you too, although I don't advise that you go rushing around with a wheelbarrow as he did. You can, however, do other things to give your operation the air of success and professionalism—hiring a voice artist for starters.

A voice artist can do things like personalize your phone tree, but in a very professional manner. Believe me, your callers will appreciate this. By the time someone calls you, he or she may have already been down several canned voice tree mazes that day. But your voice artist is going to make your voice tree just a little more interesting. Voice talent can also give your voice mail and answering machine outgoing message a lot of class. This will tell the world what a detail-oriented businessperson you are. It will tell them that you are successful, because you have the money to spend on making your office the best it can be. People pay attention to seemingly inconsequential details, and hiring a voice artist is a detail that will impress your callers.

In fact, hiring a voice artist is like appearing in public in your best suit. That's because it's all about the first impression. A professional voice artist is like a well-tailored suit for your outgoing messages. In order to show off your services, you have to impress people with the packaging. That is a sad but true fact of human nature. People do judge books by their covers. They assume that clothes do, indeed, make the man. A voice artist will go a long way toward making sure you have the best possible packaging so that potential clients will check out what you have to offer.

Hiring a voice artist shows your callers that you are indeed someone who pays attention to the details. This is a good thing because telephone calls are often the way that people use to size up a business. Many businesses are great when you meet their representatives face-to-face. That's because it's easy to be energetic and happy when you're out and about talking up what you do. But day to day, when someone calls your office and someone else is taking care of the image, sometimes, that image suffers. If someone calls and they get nothing but a boring canned message, then they will think that wonderful conversation they had with you downtown the other day wall all schmooze-talk. If they get a message from a professional voice artist that puts them at ease and makes them feel as though they are dealing with someone who knows what they're doing, then they won't mind being put on hold quite so much.

To put it simply, a voice artist can simply give your business a more polished, successful appearance. A voice artist is one of those details that lets your clients know that you mean business, and that will have no trouble taking care of their needs.
